Biography
Bishop Gershom Mott Williams served the Episcopal Church with compassion and intellect, guiding congregations through moments of growth and change. As Michigan’s first bishop of the Episcopal Diocese, he expanded outreach programs, strengthened clergy education, and promoted social ministries across the state.
Williams was also a gifted speaker and author, whose measured voice brought comfort during times of challenge. He carried a deep faith to the end of his life, passing in 1923 and leaving a spiritually nourished church in his wake.
