Biography

Gertrud Leibl (1800–1880) lived through eight decades of European history, witnessing the transformations of the 19th century from her position within German society. Though her life was primarily domestic in nature, she was part of the fabric of family and community life during a period of significant change.

Her long life spanned from the Napoleonic era through the establishment of the German Empire. Gertrud was laid to rest at Melaten-Friedhof, where her grave marks the final resting place of a woman who lived through one of history's most transformative centuries.
