Ginette Neveu, born in 1919, was hailed as a violin prodigy before the war, winning top prizes and bringing a mature sensitivity to each concerto she performed.
Her luminous tone and expressive phrasing, particularly in the works of Bach, Beethoven and the French repertoire, made her departure in 1949 all the more poignant, yet her recordings continue to inspire.
