Military Engineer/General

Biography

Godfrey Weitzel was a West Point graduate whose engineering gifts and leadership brought strength to the Union cause during the Civil War. He commanded troops and directed operations with technical skill and calm resolve, often bridging the gap between military planning and battlefield execution.

After the war he helped restore order in rebuilding regions, applying the same methodical discipline to reconstruction that had once guided him through the heat of battle, leaving behind a legacy of service at every turn.
