Biography
Gordon D. Gayle brought courage to the front lines as a Marine Corps officer in World War II and the Korean War, then translated those hard-earned lessons into leadership, teaching, and scholarship. He helped develop doctrine at Quantico and shared Marine history through writings that preserved the sacrifices of those who fought in the Pacific.
Throughout a lifelong commitment to the Corps he emphasized character, education, and preparedness, leaving mentors to remember him as both a warrior and a guide. He now rests in Arlington National Cemetery, the same hallowed ground that echoes the stories he helped keep alive.
