Biography

Gus Greenlee was a prominent businessman and sports entrepreneur who played a significant role in African American baseball during the early twentieth century. As the owner of the Pittsburgh Crawfords, Greenlee helped establish one of the most successful teams in Negro League history, assembling rosters that featured some of the era's finest players.

Beyond baseball, Greenlee was a successful businessman whose ventures supported the Black community in Pittsburgh. His contributions to sports and commerce made him an influential figure in the city's African American community during a time of significant racial segregation.
