Biography

Gustaf Otto von Platen (1801–1824) was a Swedish military officer whose promising career was cut short by his untimely death at the age of 23. Born into a noble family, he represented the military class of early 19th-century Sweden, a period when the nation was navigating significant political and territorial changes following the Napoleonic Wars.

Though his life was brief, von Platen's military service reflected the dedication of Swedish officers to national defense and security during a formative period in Swedish history. His memory is preserved in the Malmö Old Cemetery, a significant burial ground that commemorates notable figures from southern Sweden.
