Gustav Garčík

1823–1892 (age 69)

Biography

Gustav Garčík, born in 1823, answered the call to serve as parson in Prosetín and soon became known for his straightforward sermons and willingness to travel to distant farms and hamlets. He encouraged the young people of his parish to learn not only Scripture but also practical crafts, and he supported local healers and craftsmen when epidemics or poor harvests threatened the village.

Passing away in 1892, he left behind a congregation shaped by personal care and a sense of shared responsibility, and the Protestant cemetery in Prosetín remains a place where the gratitude of the faithful is quietly expressed at his resting place.
