Gustave Valmont was a French poet whose artistic voice contributed to the cultural landscape of his era. His life was claimed by World War I in 1914, during the conflict's devastating opening year.
Though his poetic career was brief, his memory is preserved at Courgivaux National Cemetery. Valmont represents the many artists and writers whose creative potential was lost to the Great War.
