Gustavus Scott was born in 1753 and spent his life in the midst of Fairfax County's transformation from colonial outpost to the heart of an emerging republic, helping to keep the local records and households steady.

He treated every neighbor as family, took part in community councils, and encouraged young men to seek honor in civic duties, leaving a legacy of measured judgment that now rests at Fairfax City Cemetery.
