Biography
Gustaw Ostapowicz was a distinguished Polish military officer whose career spanned several decades of significant change in Polish and European history. Born in 1863, he was part of the generation of Polish officers who worked to establish and maintain Polish military strength during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Ostapowicz's long military career and service to Poland extended into the World War II period, during which he witnessed the nation's greatest trials. He died in 1941 at an advanced age, having devoted much of his life to military service. He is honored through his burial at Powązki Military Cemetery in Warsaw, among other distinguished Polish military figures.
