Biography

Habuto Masayasu (1752–1814) was a hatamoto, a direct retainer of the Tokugawa shogunate, whose service represented the samurai class during the stable later years of the Edo period. His position of trust and responsibility reflected his loyalty, martial skill, and administrative capabilities, making him an important figure in the feudal hierarchy.

Masayasu's sixty-two years of life were dedicated to service and the maintenance of the social order that defined his era. His burial at Tenmyōkoku-ji Temple honors his memory and his significant role in the samurai administration that governed Japan during this period of relative peace and cultural development.
