Biography
Hamengkubuwono IV was a sultan of Yogyakarta who ruled during the early nineteenth century, a period of significant change in Java. Born in 1804, he navigated the complex political landscape of his time, working to preserve his kingdom's interests during the colonial period.
He died in 1822 and was buried at Imogiri, the royal cemetery of Yogyakarta, where he remains honored as part of the sultanate's distinguished lineage and history.
