Biography
Han van Meegeren (1889–1947) trained as a painter with an exceptional command of classical technique, dedicating himself to the study of the Old Masters and the subtle play of light in every composition. His work, and the controversies that later accompanied it, stirred reflection among artists and collectors about authenticity and the history of art.
He spent his final years in Deventer, where the complexity of his legacy is still discussed with an awareness of both his creative gifts and the turbulent history that surrounded them.
