Hannah Pope Dana

Biography

Hannah Pope Dana, born in 1744, stood as a matriarch of Hewittville, guiding her household with patience and making room for friends during times of celebration and in grief. Her recollections of early trials gave her the grace to comfort others with stories of perseverance and hope.

She entered her rest in Hewittville Cemetery in 1821, and the community continues to remember her as a wise and gentle counselor whose hospitality knew no bounds.
