Biography
Hanuš Wihan, born in 1855, earned acclaim as a cellist of singular warmth and a beloved teacher who nurtured young musicians at the Prague Conservatory and beyond. His interpretations inspired audiences, and his friendship with composers brought new works to life, including a cello concerto that still bears testimony to their collaboration.
After his passing in 1920 he was laid to rest at Olšany Cemetery, where admirers come to honor the virtuoso whose artistry and mentorship lives on through every cello voice he helped shape.
