Biography
Harlow S. Orton, born 1817, pursued the law with a sense of fairness that earned him appointments to the bench and ultimately to Wisconsin's highest court. He guided litigants with thoughtful opinions and a belief that justice should reflect both the letter and the spirit of the law.
After decades of service he passed in 1895 and was interred at Forest Hill Cemetery, where colleagues and citizens remember his thoughtful leadership and calm temperament.
