Biography

Harriet Chalmers Adams pursued a bold life of exploration, making repeated voyages through South America, the South Pacific, and Asia while documenting the people and places she encountered.

Her carefully observed dispatches and lectures introduced readers to distant cultures and urged respect for their traditions, and in quieter seasons she treasured time with friends and family in the Bay Area before being laid to rest at Chapel of the Chimes.
