Harry George Armstrong (1899–1983) was a physician and military officer whose vision shaped the field of aerospace medicine. A pioneer in studying how flight environments affect the human body, he championed research that improved pilot safety and led to the establishment of specialized medical facilities that bear his name.

Armstrong’s legacy is one of scientific rigor married to deep concern for servicemembers, and his contributions at Fort Sam Houston helped ensure that air crews received the care and support they needed. He is honored among his peers at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery as the “Father of Aerospace Medicine.”
