Harry Sherwood Ranken (1883–1914) was a military physician whose tireless efforts in the early months of the Great War brought life-saving attention to countless wounded, even as he tended to others with a selfless calm.
His courage in the field, where he refused to leave any soldier until better hands arrived, remains a beacon for military medicine and is quietly honoured in the Commonwealth Plot at Braine Communal Cemetery.
