Biography

Hasegawa Settei was a painter of considerable skill who was affiliated with Kōryū-ji Temple during the early 19th century. Born in 1813, he contributed to the artistic and cultural life of the temple and the broader artistic traditions of his time.

His career as a painter spanned the transition from the Edo to the Meiji period, a time of significant change in Japanese artistic practice.
