Biography
Hasegawa Utano lived during a transformative period in Japanese history, witnessing and experiencing the profound changes of the Meiji era. Her life spanned the nineteenth century, a time of significant cultural and social evolution.
Utano's existence reflected the experiences of Japanese women during this dynamic period of national modernization and change. She was laid to rest at Yūten-ji Temple, a place of spiritual significance in her community.
