Biography
Hatice Şükriye Sultan was a member of the Ottoman aristocracy who lived through the transition from empire to republic. Born in 1906, she represented a generation of the Ottoman elite who adapted to the dramatic changes of the early twentieth century.
As an aristocrat, Hatice Şükriye Sultan maintained her position in society until her death in 1972. She was honored with burial at the Mausoleum of Mahmud II, a site of significant historical and dynastic importance.
