Biography

Hayashi Oen (1797–1870) was a samurai who lived through one of Japan's most transformative periods, witnessing the transition from the Edo period to the Meiji era. His life embodied the values of the samurai tradition while adapting to the dramatic changes that reshaped Japanese society and governance during his lifetime.
