Helge Bertram
1919–1988 (age 69)
Biography
Helge Bertram painted with bold color and a restless curiosity, capturing figures and cityscapes that reflected the shifting mood of Denmark in the twentieth century. His work combined modernist impulses with a respectful nod to tradition, lending his canvases both energy and poise.
He was also generous with his knowledge, guiding workshops and supporting up-and-coming painters eager to find their own voices. Visitors to Gamtofte Kirkegård remember him as an artist who painted with heart and welcomed others into the studio.
