Biography
Henrik Kauffmann served as the Danish minister to the United States for decades and became known for defending Danish sovereignty by cooperating with the Allies after the 1940 occupation, culminating in the 1941 decision to allow the United States to protect Greenland.
He balanced diplomacy and national honor, later being honored for his perseverance and continuing to encourage Danish-American ties, and his memory is kept alive at Vedbæk Cemetery.
