Henry A. Strong

Biography

Henry A. Strong, born 1838, partnered with George Eastman to bring the promise of photography to everyday people, helping to build Eastman Kodak into an instrument of creativity and memory. His business foresight was matched by a desire to improve education and civic institutions in the region.

He died in 1919 and now lies at Mount Hope Cemetery, where friends recall his energetic philanthropy. His legacy endures in the many families who captured treasured moments because of the industry he helped nurture.
