Henry B. Metcalfe

Biography

Henry B. Metcalfe (1805–1881) became a respected attorney and eventually represented his neighbors in the United States Congress, where he labored to protect municipal interests and to keep the harbor and streets of Brooklyn prosperous. His fellow citizens valued the deliberate temper with which he faced sectional tensions and the confidence he had in practical, local solutions.

He lies in Moravian Cemetery, where visitors honor a lifetime of careful public service to New York.
