Biography

Henry M. Cist was a scholar and publisher whose historical writings preserved the narratives of the American past for future generations. As both historian and printer, he pursued the careful study and dissemination of Civil War and regional history with patience and a deep reverence for fact.

He remained devoted to the written word and to educating others about their heritage, a devotion that continues to be honored by those who visit his grave at Spring Grove Cemetery.
