Biography

Henry Moore Teller brought to Colorado a deep sense of duty, first serving in the Union Army and later as Secretary of the Interior before becoming a powerful voice in the United States Senate. He defended the rights of western territories, promoted access to public lands and minerals, and stood resolute for the miners, farmers, and Indigenous communities seeking justice on the frontier.

His lengthy tenure in the Senate shaped mineral policy and western development, and after retirement he remained a mentor to Colorado leaders and citizens who valued his counsel; his legacy rests now at Fairmount Cemetery.
