Biography

Henry Martyn Baird devoted himself to the study of the Reformation, producing careful volumes on the Huguenots and the broader religious conflicts that shaped modern Europe. His lectures and writings balanced scholarly rigor with a compassion for the ordinary people whose lives were swept up in those turbulent decades.

Through his roles as a teacher and correspondent he encouraged young historians to read original letters and to appreciate the long view of history, leaving behind a legacy cherished by readers and resting now in Saint Johns Cemetery.
