Henry Oothoudt

Biography

Henry Oothoudt, born in 1739, witnessed the Catskill valley grow from a frontier outpost to the settled heart of Greene County and answered numerous civic calls to keep order, assist with harvests, and support the militia when necessary.

He shared his knowledge of milling and trade, helped lay out new roads, and is remembered at Town of Catskill Cemetery as one of the citizens who helped steady the town through early challenges.
