Biography

Henry P. Torsey, born in 1819, dedicated much of his life to education and to mentoring young scholars at Kents Hill, believing that curiosity and kindness could lift any person. He labored tirelessly to ensure classrooms were places of respect and encouragement, often staying late to help a struggling student or to plan a lesson that might spark a new interest.

His love of learning and his patient guidance shaped generations, and Kents Hill Cemetery now preserves the peaceful rest of a man whose heart remained in service of those who sought knowledge.
