Henry S. Halbert was born in 1837 and became a devoted historian, gathering and preserving the stories of the Southeastern tribes so that future generations might understand their heritage.

He treasured the friendships formed during his research and teaching, and Greenwood Cemetery now holds his remains as a testament to a life committed to honoring others' voices.
