Henry S. Thibodaux, born in 1769, became one of Louisiana's formative civic leaders, holding posts as mayor, state senator, and eventually governor in the years after statehood.

He guided the young state through financial challenges while supporting the farmers and merchants of the Mississippi Valley, leaving a legacy of steady leadership laid to rest at Halfway Cemetery.
