Biography
Henry Tingle Wilde (1872–1912) was a sailor whose life was devoted to the sea and maritime service. Born during the height of British naval supremacy, he pursued a career on the water during a transformative period in maritime history, as steam power increasingly replaced sail.
Wilde's career at sea represented a connection to Britain's great seafaring traditions. Though his life was relatively brief, ending at age 40, his profession as a sailor speaks to a life of adventure, duty, and dedication to the maritime service. He was laid to rest at Kirkdale Cemetery.
