Biography
Henry Weinhard arrived from Germany in his teens and, after stops in the Midwest and the Rocky Mountains, settled in Portland to launch the brewery that would become Henry Weinhard's and a beloved Portland institution.
Beyond his brewing innovations, he gave generously to schools, parks, and civic celebrations—most famously through the fountain that still bears his name—and helped make the city a more cultured and welcoming home for newcomers.
