Biography

Herman Wilhelm Bissen was a talented Danish sculptor whose artistic works contributed significantly to 19th-century Scandinavian art and culture. Born in 1798, he pursued sculpture as a means of creative expression and left behind a body of work that reflected the aesthetic sensibilities of his era.

Bissen's sculptures demonstrated his skill and artistic vision, and his contributions to Danish art were recognized during his lifetime and beyond. He continued his artistic practice until his death in 1868 and was honored with burial at Assistens Cemetery, where many of Denmark's most celebrated artists and intellectuals are remembered.
