Biography

Hermann de Pourtalès approached the sea with courage, spending his life as a sailor who respected the rhythms of wind and water while guiding others with a calm determination. His hours aboard the vessel were marked by discipline, but also by the joy of shared voyages and tales of distant horizons.

He was buried in the Cemetery of Mies in 1904, where the gentle whisper of the waters he loved can still be felt by those who visit his grave.
