Biography

Hermann Hoppe (1836–1885) was a skilled printer who contributed to the literary and publishing culture of nineteenth-century Russia. As a craftsman in the printing trade, he played a role in the production and dissemination of written works during a period of growing literacy and intellectual activity.

Hoppe's work as a printer represented an essential profession in the development of Russian print culture. He was buried at Volkovo Cemetery, where he rests among other notable members of Saint Petersburg society.
