Hezekiah Balch

Biography
Hezekiah Balch, born in 1741, was a Presbyterian minister who took seriously both faith and education, founding Greeneville College to ensure young people received a grounded classical and religious training.
Through theological debates and frontier hardships he remained committed to his flock, and after his death in 1810 he was laid to rest in Old Harmony Graveyard beside many of those he taught and comforted.
