Biography
Hollis B. Frissell devoted his career to Hampton Institute, guiding the school through decades of growth and deepening its mission to educate newly freed African Americans and Native Americans; his leadership emphasized practical skills, moral character, and service.
Even in retirement he remained engaged with the Hampton community, and his remains lie in the shaded grounds of Hampton University Cemetery as a reminder of education’s lasting power.
