Horace de Vere Cole
1881–1936 (age 55)
Biography
Horace de Vere Cole delighted in elaborate pranks that turned on stiff conventions, most famously the Dreadnought hoax, and he infused the British Isles with mischievous energy.
His antics, though sometimes bewildering, celebrated a playful curiosity, and the laughter he stirred still echoes around West Woodhay, where he lies in peace.
