Horace Harmon Lurton

Biography

Horace Harmon Lurton was born in 1844 and dedicated his life to the rule of law, rising from the Tennessee judiciary to serve with distinction as a judge and ultimately as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Throughout his career he was admired for his thoughtful opinions and steady temperament, and he now rests at Greenwood Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of fairness and quiet strength.
