Biography
Horace Holmes Thomas, born in 1831, dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice and the public good. As a lawyer and civic volunteer, he worked to ensure that the city’s legal foundations were fair and accessible to its citizens.
He also took great interest in education and community organizations, encouraging young people to serve others. His thoughtful presence was felt by many in Chicago, and when he passed in 1904, he was laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery with the gratitude of a city he helped steady.
