Biography

Horatio Alger (1832–1899) wrote rags-to-riches stories that captured the imagination of young readers and espoused perseverance, thrift, and moral character as the keys to success.

Though his works stirred debate, they reflected a belief in second chances, and he was laid to rest at Glenwood Cemetery.
