Biography
Hristo Kalchev devoted his literary talent to illuminating the human experience through stories that blended sharp observation with compassion. His writing often explored the tension between tradition and change, and he earned readers’ trust by presenting characters whose struggles mirrored those of many Bulgarians living through turbulent times.
Kalchev’s essays and novels were shared widely, sometimes read aloud at gatherings in Sofia, and his affection for the written word inspired a number of younger writers before he was laid to rest at Central Sofia Cemetery.
