Biography
Hryhorii Kytastyi (1907-1984) trained as a composer and conductor in Ukraine and became known for arranging and composing music for the bandura, weaving traditional songs into polished concert works.
After relocating to the United States in the aftermath of World War II, he led the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus, nurtured a generation of singers and composers, and is now memorialized at Saint Andrew Cemetery for keeping those melodies alive.
