Biography

Huey Long was a populist governor and senator whose Share Our Wealth movement and expansive public works reshaped Louisiana politics, delivering new bridges, roads, and schools while cultivating a fiercely loyal base.

His blend of redistributionist rhetoric and authoritarian habits remains the subject of debate, yet his desire to lift rural citizens out of poverty shaped his career until his assassination, after which he was entombed in the Louisiana State Capitol he once redesigned.
