Biography
Hugh Duffy, born in 1866, rose to prominence as one of baseball’s great outfielders, earning a place in Cooperstown for his graceful fielding and remarkable .440 batting average in 1894. His mastery of the game shone not only in the batter’s box but also in his leadership roles, later guiding young players as a manager and coach across the major leagues.
